A special event is scheduled for Monday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. It will once again take place in Cupertino, California’s Steve Jobs Theater, and it will be a digital-only event.
Apple often holds a second October or November event when there are a lot of new products in the fall, as in 2021. Rumor has it that Apple is already working on redesigned 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
Apple’s new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are rumored to feature thinner bezels and larger displays, adding to the rumored 2x Retina capability for sharper, crisper images and text. There may be up to 32GB of RAM in the new MacBook Pro, as the M1X chip is a faster, more powerful variant of the M1.
MagSafe chargers will replace USB-C ports in the new MacBook Pro. There will be no Touch Bar and the standard function row of keys will be replaced with HDMI and SD card slots. Apple will re-adopt the HDMI port and SD card slot as well. The MacBook Pro models expecting to be available in 2021 will be reminiscent of the pre-2016 models, all but undoing the changes that were made with the 2016 model.
Since Apple typically announces AirPods alongside iPhones during its September event, we thought it was likely that Apple would unveil the AirPods 3 at its October event instead. AirPods Pro-style stems and an AirPods Pro-style case will be featured on the new AirPods, but Active Noise Cancellation will remain an affordable option without it.
MacOS Monterey’s release date will be announced soon, and Apple may launch a new Mac mini or MacBook Pro models this year. However, other than new MacBook Pro models and AirPods 3, we haven’t heard many rumors about other products in the pipeline.
